Performance

WordPress adds scripts, styles, and metadata to every page of your site that most sites
never use. The Performance tab lets you switch these off one by one. In wp-admin, go to
Oxygen → Settings → Performance.

Every option is off by default. Check the ones you want, click Save Changes, and the
change applies site-wide immediately.

The options

Option What switching it on does
Gutenberg Blocks CSS Stops the block editor's stylesheet (~11kb) loading on the front end, along with the theme's global styles, classic theme styles and WooCommerce block CSS. Don't enable it if parts of your site are built with the block editor — their styling depends on it.
XML-RPC Pingbacks Removes the pingback methods from XML-RPC, drops the X-Pingback header, and disables authenticated XML-RPC requests. The practical effect: no more pingback spam.
WP Emoji Removes the emoji-rendering JavaScript and styles (~10kb) WordPress loads on every page, front end and admin. Modern browsers render emoji natively, so emoji in your content keep working.
Dashicons Stops loading the WordPress admin icon font for logged-out visitors. Logged-in users still get it — the admin bar uses it.
OEmbed Disables automatic embedding of external content (YouTube videos, tweets) when a URL is pasted into a post, and removes your site's own oEmbed endpoint, discovery links and embed script.
RSD Links Removes the Really Simple Discovery <link> from the head. RSD is a 2003-era spec for desktop blog-publishing apps.
WLW Link Removes the Windows Live Writer manifest link. Windows Live Writer was discontinued in 2017.
REST API Removes the REST API <link> tag from the head. It does not disable the REST API itself.
WP Generator Removes the <meta name="generator"> tag advertising your WordPress version, from the head and from RSS feeds.
Remove Shortlink Removes the <link rel="shortlink"> tag from the head.
Relational Links Removes the prev/next relational links WordPress puts in the head of single posts.
RSS Feed Removes the RSS feed <link> tags from the head. The feeds themselves keep working at their normal URLs.
