Repeater Fields

The Repeater Field element loops over the rows of a repeater custom field on the
current item — three bullet points, a list of specs, a set of opening hours, a team
roster stored on one post.

It is the odd one out among the loop elements. The
Post Loop and Term Loop query the
site; the Repeater Field doesn't query anything. Its items are simply whatever rows the
chosen field holds on the post being rendered.

Choosing the field

A Meta Box group selected as the Repeater Field.

Content → Field → Repeater Field is a single dropdown, listing the repeater fields
available on your site. Until you pick one it reads "No field selected", the element
renders nothing, and the builder shows a "This element has no content" notice.

Repeater fields come only from a field plugin that registers them. Oxygen reads repeaters
from ACF and Toolset; Meta Box's group fields are not exposed as repeaters here.

Note: ACF's repeater field is a PRO feature. On a site running the free version
of ACF there are no repeater fields to choose, and the dropdown will be empty even
though the element is working correctly.

Building the row design

The rest is the shared Repeated Block
workflow: choose the Component that designs one row, and set the Tag each row is
wrapped in.

Inside that Component, bind elements to the repeater's subfields the same way you'd bind
any other dynamic data — the subfields resolve against the row currently being rendered.
See Dynamic Data.

What it shares, and what it doesn't

The Repeater Field has the full Advanced popout, so
alternates, static items and the
empty state all behave exactly as they do on the other
loops. It also has the same Design → List layouts — a repeater can be a grid, a
slider, an accordion or tabs, not just a list.

Two things it does not have:

  • No pagination. The rows of one field are a short, fixed list; there is no
    Pagination section on this element.
  • No query controls. There is no Query section at all. To change which rows appear,
edit the field's rows on the post.

Tip: when the layout is Accordion or Tabs, an extra Item Title control appears —
it supplies the label for each accordion header or tab, which a plain list doesn't need.
