Term Loop Builder

The Term Loop Builder repeats one component once per taxonomy term — a category index, a
list of product brands, a tag cloud built out of real elements.
Term Loops is the guide to building with it; this page is the
element's controls.

Repeated Block

  • Component — the component rendered once per term. Until you pick one, each item
    renders "Choose a Component from the dropdown." Edit Component opens it in the builder.
  • Tag — the HTML tag each item is wrapped in: article (the default), section, or
    div.
  • Advanced opens a popout holding When Empty — the component rendered instead of the
    loop when no terms match. See Empty State.

Unlike the Post Loop Builder, this element has no
Alternates or Static Items.

Query

Load Terms By Query switches between the two ways of choosing terms.

Off (the default), you get three controls:

  • Taxonomy — which taxonomy the terms come from.
  • Limit — how many terms to render.
  • Hide Empty — leave out terms with no posts.

On, those are replaced by Term Query, a PHP field returning an argument array for
get_terms(). It starts at:

return [ 'taxonomy' => 'category', 'hide_empty' => false, 'number' => 6 ];

Pagination

  • Pagination — None, Numbers, Previous / Next, Numbers + Previous /
    Next
    , Load More Button, or Infinite Scroll.
  • Previous Text / Next Text — the link labels, for the two modes that show them.
  • Show All Page Numbers — for the numbered modes.
  • Load More Text — the button's label, for Load More.

Pagination has the detail.

On the front end

The element renders a div.bde-term-loop containing a div.bde-loop wrapper, and inside it
one element per term using the Tag you chose, each carrying bde-loop-item. The
component's markup is rendered inside each item.
