Sharing & Selling Your Design Set

Once your site is published as a design set,
sharing it is just handing out a URL. There's no package to build and no marketplace to
upload to — the set is served live by the site itself.

Hand out the shareable URL

Oxygen → Settings → Design Library shows a read-only Shareable URL under the Design
Set checkboxes. Anyone who pastes it into their own Custom Design Sets list gets your
designs in their builder.

Because the set is live, you keep control of it after sharing. Improve a section, add a
Part, retire a page — everyone browsing the set picks up the change, without reinstalling
anything.

Two consequences worth planning for:

  • The site has to stay up. A design set is fetched server-to-server from the site that
hosts it. If that site goes offline or moves, every site pointing at it loses the set.
  • One site is one set. If you want to publish several distinct sets, run several sites.

Protect it with a password

A shareable URL is public to anyone who has it. To limit who can browse the set, set a
password on the same settings tab.

With a password set, the Shareable URL includes it as a ?password= parameter — so people
you give the full URL to are let straight in. Anyone who arrives without it is prompted to
enter the password before they can browse.

Keep in mind this gates browsing the set. If you also enabled Enable Copy From
Frontend
, your public site still offers its designs to visitors.

Let visitors copy from the live site

Enable Copy From Frontend puts a copy button on the sections of your live site. Someone
browsing the site itself — not the Design Library — can copy a section and paste it into
their own Oxygen builder.

It's a good fit for a demo site whose whole purpose is to sell the set. It's the wrong
setting for a client site: turn it off there.

Give a full-site set a thumbnail

If you offer Full Site Import Enabled, fill in the Thumbnail URL. That image is the
entire card people see in wp-admin — a set without one shows a placeholder icon, which
reads as unfinished. Upload a screenshot of the home page to your media library and paste
its URL.

Selling access

You can charge for a design set, and the mechanics are entirely yours: sell the shareable
URL through whatever store or membership plugin you like, and deliver it as you would any
digital product. Password protection is what makes this practical — rotate the password if
a URL leaks.

Two licensing rules apply:

  • Don't bundle the Oxygen plugin with your set. The set is content, not software.
  • Buyers need their own Oxygen licence. Yours doesn't cover the people importing your
    designs.

Handing a site to a client

If you build sites for clients on top of your own set, the same settings tab has two
switches for after handover:

  • Hide Design Library On This Website hides it from the admin menu and blocks every set
except This Website and the last one imported.
  • Hide Design Library In Builder removes the Design Library icon from the builder only.

Both are documented in full on the
Design Library settings reference.

Troubleshooting

Someone says your set is invalid

Have them check they pasted the whole URL, including the ?password= part if you use one.
Then check from your side that Turn This Website Into a Design Set is still ticked, and
that the site answers to the outside world — a set behind HTTP auth, a firewall, an IP
allowlist or a "coming soon" plugin can't be read server-to-server even though it looks
fine in a browser.

Your latest work isn't showing up for them

Each consuming site caches the list of items in your set for about a day. Previews are
live, so an edit to an existing page appears immediately, but a newly added page won't be
listed until their cache refreshes.

You changed the password and people are locked out

That's the intended behaviour — the old ?password= URL stops working. Re-issue the new
Shareable URL to anyone who should still have access.

You'd rather people didn't see a particular page

Tick Hide in Design Set? on that page in the WordPress editor. Moving it to draft isn't
enough — drafts still appear to people browsing your set, they're only left out of the
full-site import.
