Yoast SEO

Oxygen works with Yoast SEO out of the box.
Install both plugins and Yoast behaves the way it does on any WordPress site: titles, meta
descriptions, social previews, schema and sitemaps all come from Yoast, because Oxygen builds
the page body and leaves the document head to WordPress.

The one place a page builder normally breaks an SEO plugin is content analysis — and that's
the part Oxygen handles for you.

Editing SEO data

Edit the post, page or custom post type in WordPress as usual. The Yoast meta box is on that
screen, exactly where it always is, whether or not the page is built with Oxygen. Fill in
your focus keyphrase, title and description there; open the builder for the layout.

Content analysis reads the real page

Yoast's readability and keyphrase scores normally analyse the content in the WordPress
editor. A page built with Oxygen doesn't keep its layout there — it's stored as an element
tree — so a naive analysis would score an empty page.

Oxygen replaces the analysed content with the page's rendered HTML. When you open the edit
screen for a post built with Oxygen, Oxygen renders that post's element tree and hands the
resulting markup to Yoast's analyzer in place of the editor content. Your headings,
paragraphs, links, images and alt text are all in there, so the scores describe the page a
visitor actually gets.

There's nothing to enable. It applies to every post in builder mode, on every post type.

Yoast reads 76 words from the Oxygen page and reports its analysis.

If you use Yoast's breadcrumbs, the Breadcrumbs element — part of the Breakdance Elements
extension for Oxygen — outputs them inside your layout. Add the element, then set its
Integration control to Yoast SEO.

Oxygen wraps Yoast's breadcrumb separator in its own <span class="separator"> so you can
style the separator independently of the links.

Troubleshooting

The analysis is empty, or scores a page that clearly has content

Check the post is actually in builder mode — Oxygen only substitutes the rendered content for
posts it built. A post whose layout lives in the classic editor or blocks is analysed by
Yoast normally, from that content.

The scores don't reflect changes I just made in the builder

The rendered content is captured when the WordPress edit screen loads. If you edit the page
in the builder in another tab, save it, then go back to the still-open edit screen, Yoast is
still analysing the older markup. Reload the edit screen.

The Breadcrumbs element says to install an SEO plugin

The element prints "Please install Yoast, RankMath, or SEOPress to use breadcrumbs" when none
of the three is active — it renders whichever plugin's breadcrumb function it's pointed at
rather than building its own trail. Activate Yoast.

The Breadcrumbs element says to select an integration

Its Integration control is unset. Pick Yoast SEO.
