Oxygen 6.0 Beta 4 Is Now Available

This release focuses on clarity, speed, and everyday workflow: clearer responsive inheritance, smarter design library imports, new keyboard shortcuts, one‑click permalink repair, and a lot of polish across the builder, code editor, and integrations.

Beta 4 builds on the big features shipped in earlier betas and tightens up the details while we prepare to release the final version. If you want the highlights from this version, keep reading.

See Inherited Values Across Breakpoints

In Beta 4, Oxygen controls show the value it inherits from the previous breakpoint or selector as a placeholder in control/input (unit, spacing, gap, etc). Before you type anything, you can see exactly what’s currently in effect. No more guessing which value you’re overriding.

We also fixed a subtle issue with Grid and Flex layouts. Oxygen now outputs the relevant grid/flex CSS for every breakpoint automatically, so breakpoint‑specific column and row settings always inherit the right value from the previous breakpoint.

Class Editor Always Ready in Oxygen

Adding or selecting an element automatically selects the first available class for that element. If you start editing properties on an element that has no class, Oxygen automatically creates a sensibly named class based on the element and activates it (e.g., container-1). When a component exposes no content controls (e.g., text, image elements, etc), Oxygen defaults the panel to Classes, so you can style it without losing your flow.

Duplicating Classes Goes Straight to Editing

When you duplicate a class or nested selector, the new selector now becomes active immediately, adopts the element’s selector list, and focuses the rename field, so you can clone-and-edit without hunting for the new entry. Duplicate » type a new class name » keep building.

Import Variables & Selectors With Each Design Set

When you import a design library item, the modal now shows which assets it depends on (variables, selectors, and Global Settings when Breakdance Elements for Oxygen is installed). From that same dialog, you can choose which of those assets to import along with the design.

Variable Autocomplete Even While Typing Invalid CSS

The CSS editor now offers variable suggestions even when the parser sees incomplete syntax (missing colons, partial var() calls, etc.). The completions stay visible while you type and show each variable’s collection/preview so you can insert the correct token without fixing the rule first.

Empty Custom Attributes Are Allowed

Some workflows rely on intentionally empty attributes like disabled, data-*=””, or empty IDs used as scripting hooks. In Oxygen 6 Beta 4, developers can now output empty attributes for semantic or scripting reasons without being automatically removed.

Toggle Oxygen Panels From the Keyboard

Power users can now open key Oxygen panels without leaving the keyboard.

New global shortcuts let you toggle:

  • StructureCMD/CTRL + Shift + E
  • VariablesCMD/CTRL + Shift + V
  • SelectorsCMD/CTRL + Shift + G

If you live in the keyboard and bounce between Structure, Variables, and Selectors all day, this removes a lot of small, repetitive clicks.

Faster Dynamic Data Selection With Keyboard Search

The Dynamic Data dialog has been upgraded for keyboard‑driven workflows. When you open the dialog in Beta 4, the search input is auto‑focused, and the first matching result is highlighted and marked with a visual “shortcut” badge. Pressing Enter inserts that top result, no mouse required.

If you insert dynamic fields all day, this change makes those micro‑interactions much quicker: type, hit Enter, keep going.

Auto‑Fix Broken Permalinks Button

When WordPress permalinks are out of sync, Oxygen now shows you a warning screen including an “Auto Fix Permalinks” button. Click it to flush WordPress rewrite rules from inside Oxygen. Once the rules are flushed, the builder refreshes automatically, so you can keep working without breaking your editing flow.

Other Improvements & Bug Fixes

Beta 4 also ships a long list of refinements under the hood. Highlights include:

Performance & CSS output

  • The PHP rendering pipeline now caches repeated element metadata and skips unnecessary work when traversing dynamic data and template structures.
  • CSS cache files are only written and enqueued when they contain content, and the generated CSS is minified before being written to disk.
  • Base‑breakpoint utility CSS (including the gradients sprite) now only outputs once at the base breakpoint instead of leaking into other breakpoints.
  • Short-circuited Twig rendering when templates have no Twig tokens and switched to faster CRC32 hashes for cache keys.

Together, these changes reduce server work, memory usage, and the number/size of CSS files loaded on the front end, especially on large, condition‑heavy sites.

Inline editing & canvas behavior

  • The inline editor backdrop now tracks scroll and resize events smoothly.
  • Leaving inline editing, whether by Save or clicking away, now commits the content immediately, so headers and menus reflect the change right away instead of showing an older cached version.
  • The on‑canvas “ghost” titlebar now uses the shared element icon component, so SVG‑only icons display correctly while dragging or hovering.
  • Template Content Areas (and other mutually exclusive elements) can now be dragged in the Structure panel without being blocked by the nesting rule that prevents duplicates elsewhere on the page.

Dynamic data & lightboxes

  • The lightbox link settings in Breakdance Elements for Oxygen now bind to the same dynamic meta fields used on the frontend and accept both static media objects and dynamic references, so the UI always mirrors what will open when the button is clicked.

Template previews & testing

  • When editing Headers, Footers, or Popups, the “Previewing Post” dropdown now includes Pages. You can now see how dynamic data in these elements would appear when rendered on a Page.

Element Studio Controls Respect Dark Mode

  • Icon buttons in Element Studio now inherit the current theme colors instead of forcing black, so they remain readable in Oxygen’s dark mode.

Improved Styles for The Events Calendar

  • Oxygen now enqueues The Events Calendar’s frontend assets when Oxygen renders a page that needs them, so TEC widgets and shortcodes keep their intended typography and layout.

What’s Next: Final Release, Pricing & Black Friday

With Beta 4 out, we’re heading straight toward the final release of Oxygen 6.0. Our target for the final build is January 15th (or sooner). Between now and then, our focus is on polish, bug fixes, and stability, not new major features. Once 6.0 final ships, we’ll move into a new phase of feature development on top of that stable foundation.

This matters for pricing as well:

  • Lock in current pricing. Black Friday is your chance to buy Oxygen at today’s prices. When we ship Oxygen 6.0 final, pricing may change. We haven’t locked in the new numbers yet, but that release will effectively be a “last chance at current pricing” moment.
  • Be ready on day one. Start testing Oxygen 6 Beta 4 on a staging site now so your workflows and sites are ready when 6.0 final goes live.
  • Your existing license is safe. Any license you purchase now will remain valid after the pricing update. Only new purchases made after we change pricing will use the new rates.

For full details and to get the current deal, check out our Black Friday offer and lock in your Oxygen license before pricing changes.
