Pre-Installation Considerations
First, please ensure your server meets or exceeds our Requirements and Recommendations.
Additionally, if you are installing Oxygen on a live site, please be advised that it will completely disable the default WordPress theme system on activation and may interfere with the front end until your first templates are set up. You may wish to review the following documentation:
Downloading Oxygen
After you have purchased Oxygen, you can log in and download it from the customer portal.
Installing Oxygen
Oxygen is installed as a plugin in WordPress by going to Plugins -> Add New -> Upload in the WordPress Admin menu and uploading the .zip file for Oxygen. Once the upload is complete, you may activate Oxygen.
After activating Oxygen for the first time, you'll be directed to Oxygen's setup page, where you can choose an installation type.
Premade Website: This will allow you to load a premade website from the Design Library to get your website running quickly. You may choose the Default Install, our Atomic Design Set, or a specific Design Set using the Browse Library option.
Blank Installation: This option allows you to start with a blank canvas and build content from scratch. This option is great if you are a designer that wants complete control of your site or you plan on using a third-party Design Set, CSS Framework, or something similar.
Registering Oxygen
To get update notifications and download updates to Oxygen from your WordPress admin panel, enter your license key by going to the Oxygen -> Settings screen, then clicking the License tab. You can find your license key in the customer portal.
If you’ve purchased the Agency package, activating your license will give you access to Oxygen’s Client Controls. Likewise, if you’ve purchased the Ultimate package, you should have access to Oxygen’s Client Controls and the Composite Elements library.
Installation Issues
In the event you're having issues installing Oxygen, please ensure the following:
- You are installing Oxygen as a plugin.
- Your server meets or exceeds our Requirements and Recommendations.
If neither of the above steps fixes the problems, please see our troubleshooting guide related to Installation, Activation, and Licensing Issues.
